Tommy Hilfiger Womenswear Fall/Winter 2014 Collection
The Tommy Hilfiger Fall/Winter 2014 Womenswear collection, The New England, embarks on a coast to coast voyage from the United States to the United Kingdom. The collection celebrates Tommy Hilfiger’s signature all-American aesthetic mixed with hints of quintessential English charm. Classic Brit statements – heritage prints, sartorial sophistication and Savile Row tailoring – are given a heavy dose of Americana spirit, fusing UK tradition with east coast prep for a result that embraces The “New” England in every sense.
The first fashion group, Boston, takes its inspiration from sartorial, collegiate style. Traditional menswear patterns – houndstooth, chalk stripes and glen plaids – are reinterpreted with a feminine twist, from statement blazers to lightweight down jackets. All-American shades of apple red, snow white and midnight blue are offset with modern pops of camel, gray and cabernet. The aesthetic is minimal chic, the silhouette is tailored, and fabrics feature texture-on-texture; the look is perfect for weekdays in Boston and weekends in Nantucket.
The second stop on the trip is Middlebury, where Vermont’s forested hillsides inspire an earthy palette of chocolate torte, forest night, kangaroo, deep violet and classic camel – all paired with bright pops of ocean depths, sundown yellow and fuchsia. From hiking the great outdoors to chic city cocktails, these styles mix the best of both worlds. Traditional tweeds and custom Tommy Hilfiger tartans are accented with modern nylon and faux fur accents, while color-blocked corduroy, luxe leather, patterned jacquard and paisley prints appear throughout.
Additionally for Fall/Winter 2014, a bespoke selection of limited-edition windowpane checks and dark plaids have been developed in collaboration with Moon, the heritage British wool mill.
The final stop is Portland, where Maine’s seaside coast inspires an indigo moment in shades of blues, greens and grays, with hints of beet red integrated throughout. Soft shades of camouflage mix with Donegal fabrics and engineered stripes. Fishermen sweaters, pea coats, metal seal buttons and cable knits give a nod to traditional winter-nautical influences, while silk and metallic yarn details add a feminine touch. For the chilliest fall nights, chunky knit sweaters and chambray blues make a memorable statement.
