Victoria Beckham NYFW – Official Make Up Look
Max Factor and Pat McGrath joined forces with one of the most powerful names in the fashion industry, Victoria Beckham, this morning for the much anticipated show of the AW16 season.
Backstage, Pat previewed the newest releases from Max Factor – Voluptuous False Lash Effect Mascara and the Marilyn MonroeTM Lipstick collection – to create what has quickly become one of the most talked about beauty looks from the New York fashion calendar.
While Pat created two distinct looks, hot off the beauty runway was a russet hued burnt red lip, a modern interpretation on the classic red, adding a darker and more dramatic feel that mirrored the changes in textures and colours for Autumn/Winter. Keeping this lip as the hero of the total look, Pat paired it simply with beautifully clean looking skin and finished with a layer of mascara applied to the roots for definition without overpowering.
To create more drama, this show-stopping lip-look was reserved for two of the stand-out models, while the rest wore an almost juxtaposing look with nude lips but a softly colored smoky eye. All models brows were naturally enhanced and filled, and then Pat divided the girls into two distinct eye looks using sheer khaki on one side and ochre hues on the other – khaki for models with lighter hair and features, with ochre used for those with darker tones. The result was a muted but strikingly colorful effect, which added a contemporary and playful feel to the overall look.
Playing it clever with mascara, Pat used NEW Voluptuous False Lash Effect Mascara on top lashes only for a more dramatic effect, but applied generously to the roots giving definition without the need for eyeliner. Gentle application on the tips of lashes was just enough to give lashes a beautifully lifted look, without taking attention from the lips and colored lids that remained the focus.
The result on the runway was a line-up of beautiful models, all with an unexpectedly personalised look. Saving the best for last with the new hero red shade of the season!
“Normally for this show we do little makeup, it’s always about the skin, but this time Victoria wanted something more. So in the end we ended we actually created three very distinct looks – all with a very natural and healthy looking skin base, but then we either really ramped up the lips or added splashes of gorgeous color to the lids for a very simple, but dramatic and gorgeous look. Applying the mascara on the roots then sparingly on the tips of lashes finished the look perfectly with a defined lash line that complemented the lips and lid color perfectly.”

“This season my inspiration was all about reinterpretation – taking some of my most loved pieces and giving them a twist. Bringing them back to life in a different way. And I love that that’s what Pat and Max Factor were able to do with a classic red lip, keeping it timeless but with a slightly darker more modern feel.”
