Giving the gift of great skin to my patients has been my passion and obsession for more than a decade now. During all my years of practicing dermatology I have seen so many people struggle with their skin issues and it’s been my goal to give everybody the freedom of beautiful, clear and pristine skin no matter what else is going on in their life. During Ramadan I saw a lot of people asking for help with their acne — adult as well as teenage variety. I treated loads of cases with pigmentation problems ranging from melasma to post inflammatory pigmentation due to acne, eczema and ingrown hair. And of course on daily basis we chased wrinkles off with antiaging and rejuvenation skincare plans. The Perfect Hormonal Storm — Acne

Acne is an embarrassing condition that adults and teenagers dread equally. This after math of a hormonal storm is hard to manage and the most annoying aspect of it is that even when the fleshy red pimples settles down they leave behind awful carnage in the form of pigmentation and/or scaring.

Formulate A Zit Zapper Right In Your Own Kitchen: A pinch of nutmeg and a teaspoon of milk can tame any zit real quick. Mix both up to form a paste and apply on any fresh pimple and leave it for few hours or overnight. Nutmeg has anti-inflammatory properties and milk has alpha hydroxy acids, both of which aid in drying up and settling down any juicy acne spot. This trick is safe, natural and it really works, so next time you’re plagued with red and pesky acne spots give it a go and watch pimples disappear overnight.

If you are suffering from acne it’s also real important to address your stress levels, as stress is one of the main culprit, which aggravates your acne.

Mysterious Hormonal Pigmentation — Melasma

Also commonly known as the mask of pregnancy; melasma or cholasma is the brownish patches of pigmentation that appear on face, arms of torso with hormonal imbalance due to pregnancy (estrogen) or stress (cortisol). Sun can aggravate the condition even further making matter worse.

Homemade Brown Sugar Scrub: Take couple of spoon full of brown sugar, a spoon of turmeric, half a cup of yogurt and one egg white mix it together and use this scrub on dark patches of skin to naturally lighten and peel off the dark skin. Brown sugar has alpha hydroxy acids, yogurt is packed with zinc, vitamin B complex and lactic acid which help to remove dead skin and pigmentation while calming your melanocytes to not produce more pigment.

In addition wearing a sunscreen with UVA & B filters will act as a shield to help keep pigmentation to the minimum.

Skin Carnage At The Hands Of Time – Wrinkles

Hallmarks of aging in skin appear as wrinkles, loss of elasticity, sagging and pigmentation. To keep skin youthful regular care and use of antioxidants goes a long way.

Antiaging Mask Right Out Of Your Pantry: Take a teaspoon of honey, a liquid form of acai berry, yogurt and corn starch mix it well and apply it on for 30 minutes once a week and watch your skin spring back to youth. Honey acts as an antiseptic and an anti-inflammatory agent while acai berry has powerful antioxidant qualities to help calm aging skin. This mask can help lift your skin and spirits in a jiffy.

Good Skin Is Clean Skin – Home Made Cleanser For Sensitive Skin
Take a spoonful of finely ground almond meal, some heavy cream, almond oil and some honey, mix it all up and use it as a cleanser. This cleanser will gently remove dry dead skin, dirt and any toxins from your skin leaving it squeaky clean yet moisturized and refreshed.
