Shopping Beauty London Style!

By

I often cry at the thought that we do not have a Sephora or Faces in the UK. Instead we infamously have department stores that carry exclusives and limited editions. However, recently I’ve discovered boutiques. And when asked where I buy makeup it is literally from a mix of places. I am, also, starting to discover a lot of the online services people do not know about when visiting. Here, I will show you the best places to shop for coveted cosmetics.

1. Selfridges

In the heart of London’s Oxford Street you have a store that goes without saying. Yes you probably do know about it, but do you know of the pop-ups and latest stock that not many people are aware of?
I’ve recently discovered Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics – OCC, famous for their lip tars and let me tell you, definitely worth the buy! Also, check out Lord & Berry… At very reasonable prices you can find great lip colors that are worth collecting.
It also must be said, you must check out YSL. Yves Saint Laurent Beaute have teamed up with Google Glass to bring you a bird’s eye view of their in-store makeovers. The YSL makeup artist teaches you how to create the look you have chosen whilst filming the process through their Google glasses and then delivering your personal video tutorial straight to your inbox. Technology meets makeup, yes please!

2. Harrods

Another infamous department store that is more of a tourist attraction if anything. You find the creme da la creme in terms of cosmetics. Brands that aren’t normally stocked in Selfridges can be found here ie Dolce and Gabbana.

3. Debenhams

This is the last department store I promise! I like them because you can normally find Urban Decay and Too Faced here. The store recently underwent major renovations and the makeup department has become a haven for any beauty lover. Definitely worth checking out!

4. MAC Boutique

I often like going to the High Street Kensington boutique. I find shopping MAC in department stores tedious as the sales associates are always rushed off their feet with a manic crowd asking questions in every direction. To avoid what I consider a nightmare I find that this store is somewhat quieter and staff is so helpful. You’re more likely to find what you’re looking for too!

5. Guru Makeup Emporium

Also located on High Street Kensington, this is a gem. Fairly new they stock Makeup Forever which is completely new to us folk here. What I like about this place is that they stock everything from nails and skincare to tools and hair styling products. It’s ideal for the girl who needs the necessities that are hard to come by in most stores.

6. The Dior Beauty Boutique

I only discovered this amazing place! Open for nearly a year in Covent Garden this is a must in terms of cosmetic places to visit. Not only do they stock every product of the brand but their consultations/beauty makeovers are fantastic, not to mention the events they host. Ladies, this is worth visiting!

7. Marc Jacobs

I am crazy about Marc Jacobs and I keep reading fabulous reviews about his cosmetics and it is beyond amazing that the store in Mount Street stocks them! What I love about London is every store is an experience and not only can you enjoy his fashion and accessories, but you can also treat yourself to a little nail varnish or lipstick as an addition to the shopping spree or better yet get yourself the most coveted gel foundation yet!

8. Cocktail Cosmetics

How many of you ladies follow the likes of Huda Beauty, Amrezy, JadeyWadey etc on Instagram? Lord knows I do and there are so many products sold in the US that are quite difficult to get our hands on internationally. Whilst in the UK, it is worth checking out this website. They stock everything from Sigma to LimeCrime to Sugarpill Cosmetics. I am already in love and I love the idea that they are so accessible and delivered right to your doorstep. Maybe worthwhile doing your online shopping before touching base in London to have them delivered as soon as you arrive.

9. Motives

Another brand taking all makeup artists by storm is the Motives by Loren Ridinger. I love love love the contour palettes they have to offer and again you can order these bad boys online. Just check out the link below and definitely give Motives Mavens Sculpt Series Fire a go!
